Harry Potter v. Sarah Palin

Instead of watching Palin’s live speech from the Teabagger convention in Nashville, I’m watching another fictional story based entirely on magical thinking–Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone–for the 20th time. I am, however, dropping in from time to time on some bloggers who are providing live updates of Gidget addressing the Reichstag (h/t Matt Taibbi) and desperately wishing we could find an invisibility cloak for Mrs. Palin. Wow. I knew the teabaggers were primarily a collection of angry, white, mostly poorly educated neo-confederates, but had no idea how truly vile their public rhetoric would be. Sadly, Mrs. Palin is right there with them. Actually it is very sad. If she were slightly more reasonable, slightly less mean-spirited and significantly better informed, she might actually be an asset to the country. As it is, we already have plenty of bigots, liars and narcissists in elected office and really don’t need another one, even if she is purdy.

I truly hope the average American will see through this hate-filled movement. What they have to offer is more of the same neoconservative BS that got us into this mess to begin with.
