Dirty, Filthy, Not Good, Very Bad…Dictionary?

Headline from the Menifee (California) Press Enterprise: Menifee school officials removed dictionary over the term ‘oral sex.”

Oh my.  On the left it’s called ‘political correctness’; on the right it’s ‘censorship.’ Here in the reality-based community, we call it ‘bullshit’ and ‘taking your little self waaaay too seriously.’ I have a simple solution for these parents: Home school.  If your child is too sheltered/delicate to be trusted with the English language, remove them from the real world instead of attempting to conform the real world to your standards. Also, unless you just fell off a turnip truck, the chances that little precious ‘accidentally’ ran across this foul and offensive entry are pretty remote.  Junior might just be more savvy about the titillating (shoot, I sure hope this word doesn’t offend anyone) nature of selective dictionary reading than his/her ma and pa.  Good grief people, get a real life.

And I agree with commenter Kalleh.  Boomers are not the uptight, self-righteous generation–they just managed to raise it. Hopefully, the next generation will rebel against their ridiculously sanctimonious, narcissistic parents and we will get back to a society where people understand they are part of a large community–not always the center of it.
